What is a multimedia CD-ROM title?

CD-ROM title is the first page you’d view after inserting the CD which is most likely the name of the programme or installation etc.

The word multimedia might be something where music can be included or even specially coded videos. Most multimedia titles are optimised for doublt or, at best, quad-speed drives.

What are some application of CD-ROM title design? Eg. Educational. Bring examples, if any.

Pulling off large images from a PhotoCD would be a perfect application for a faster CD-ROM drive. However, it decompresses images as they’re read off the disc which results in a performance ceiling of quad-speed.

Another ideal application for high sustained data transfer is high-quality digital video, recorded at a suitably high rate.

You can find examples of available cd rom titles at HIBRI Computer services. It is a place where you can get all kinds of original CD ROM titles

Examples of CD ROM titles
– Microsoft Windows 98 English Full
– Microsoft Windows 98 English upg
– Microsoft Windows 98 Arabic Full

What are the differences between website design and CD-ROM title design?

CD-ROM title design
1. Bigger storage compared to website design
2. Allow more Information or Data or bigger file size
3. Fast loading time since it’s within a CD
3. Requires a longer loading time (According to the file size)

Webside Design
1.Limited size
2. Constrict to its images or videos as space is limited

IMM, week 8

Assignment Part 2

Personally, I define a good experience Once in a lifetime, exciting, thrilling, fun, with laughter, involved friends, family, company.

UGLY MAKE UP

CIMG3941CIMG3937

Interaction was seen through amusement by one another. At the same time, it gets pretty addictive when you get to scribble on someone’s face instead of drawing sheets.

Not forgetting the sense of anticipation, since we were only allowed to see what was drawn on our faces at the end of the game. Finally, it involved trust and reliance between 2 or more people in order for her to believe my awesomely ‘great’ make up skills. Communication is, thus, needed at this point of time through constant conversations to assure the other party.

Keywords: Enjoyable, Funny, silly, non image conscious

Assignment Part 1

Tie Dye with friends
CIMG33602

What Happened?

  • We hit our friend’s house and decided to occupy our time with interesting activities, such as Tye Dye.

How did I react?

  • Excited and full of anticipation as the outcome of Tie dye is always unpredictable.

What was my subjective response?

  • Worry if the result will appear alright and if the shirts will still be wearable or not.

Was my experience likely to be intentional or designed?

  • More likely designed than intentional.

How does this experience affect what I think of the provider of the experience?

  • She allows us to experience such an interesting activity at her house. Hence, I would think she is creative(in a sense that she invited us over for Tie dye) and accessable at the same time.

Geography Trip

1_444408266l

What Happened?

  • Geography students headed Thailand for an educational trip.

How did I react?

  • Excited, nervous by checking luggage constantly to check if anything’s amiss before we board the plane.

What was my subjective response?

  • Glad as that was the first time I went overseas with my friends.

Was my experience likely to be intentional or designed?

  • Intentional

How does this experience affect what I think of the provider of the experience?

  • Our geography-in-charge, Mrs Soon, gave us this opportunity to travel outside Singapore to experience things that you would not be able to. Therefore, I would think that she is an innovative teacher who believed in educating students with real-life examples, rather than boring theory in class.

(Such as physical geography: stumps, cave, arch can never be seen in Singapore/class)

 1. What is a web application?

Web application is an application that is accessed via web browser over a network such as the Internet. It is also a computer software application that is coded in a browser-supported language (such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, etc.) and reliant on a common web browser to render the application executable.

Common web applications include webmail, online retail sales, online auctions, wikis and many other functions.

2. Difference between web application and web design.

What is print?

flowchart1Color Charflowchart2

I personally do not recommend Color Chart to be broken down into a site web. It includes very large data(such as Artist names, years etc). This will cause disarrangement in placement, during the process. Also, it has too many 3rd level information which might result in confusion, rather than the main purpose of: Simplicity.

Is lesson 3(story picturing with music, no text) a good experience in reading?

It was really interesting for me as that was my first attempt to epict a story without text. Through this experience, I realise how fascinating human brain works. Never did I realise we are actually able to visualize the story through our own imagination, merely with music.

Honestly, I really did picture scenes of people moving down the stairs, together with its emotions and actions they were trying to convey.  Something new: A book with pure music, no text can be narrative as well.

Interesting!

1. Find 3 examples of passive, reactive and interactivity in everyday life
2. Find 3 examples of passive, reactive and interactivity on the internet
3. Which aspect(s) of each example is considered interactive?
4. Is there a varied degree of interactivity in each example?
5. If possible, explain with photos/ sketch/shots/sketches of the chosen examples.

1. Find 3 examples of passive, reactive and interactivity in everyday life.

Passive

  • During your least favourite class
    (your face will be U_U)
  • When new assignments are in
(Your face will be >(  Haha!)
  • When you’re asleep
    (You go “zzz..”)

Reactive

  • Doing sports you adore
  • Playing an awesome game
  • Watching videos of your favourite celebrities!

Interactivity

  • Talking on the phone
  • Listening to 98.7fm
  • Nagged by your parents

2. Find 3 examples of passive, reactive & interactivity on the internet

Passive

  • Wordy website
  • Non user friendly
  • Virus(!)

Reactive

  • Flash
  • Popups
  • Emoticons/images

Interactivity

  • Music/audio
  • Advertisements
  • MSN messenger!(Webcam)

3. Which aspect(s) of each example is considered interactive?

When and where they get to interact and communicate with the second participant/viewer/user. Thus, if they leave an impression on someone, it is interactive.

4. Is there a varied degree of interactivity in each example?

In general, all examples given are interactive in their own way.

For Passive, although they are more negative compared to reactive, it is still interactive as it affects your emotions and is still informative. However, users tend to miss out the content as they felt that it’s not engaging enough.

As for Reactive, it is similar to “Interactivity”. Both attracts the user much more. It has sound and contain visual effects which would ‘charm’ the viewers/users.

“Interactivity”, however is the most interactive as it allows users to interact with their friends online. Communication is seen and information is spreaded at the same time. More over, there will be opinions/feelings/feedbacks to each other. In short, it’s 2 sided or multi communication.

5. IF possible, explain with photos/sketch/shots/sketches of the chosen examples.

Passive

 Reactive

  • eg. Emoticons to represent your current emotions

emoticons

Interactivity

  • eg. Webcamming

Compare script and movie and website.

1. What are the differences?
2. Which experience do you prefer?
3. Which experience is the most interactive?
4. Which experience is the least intereactive?
5. What does interactive mean?
6. What is the purpose of each medium?

1.Compare the script, movie and website. What are the differences?

Script (least interactive: answer to qns4)

  • Mundane to some
  • Wordy
  • No visual and audio effects
  • Takes longer time to understand
  • Takes greater effort
  • More illustration on details
  • able to epict the story through your own imagination

Movie (most intereactive : answer to qns. 3)

  • More interesting
  • Visual effect(lighting, shadow etc)
  • Audio
  • easier to understand the story plot
  • Motion picture
  • Tend to miss out the details
  • Least effort
  • They show us the situation thus less imagination needed

Web

  • Internet/web
  • More on behind the scenes
  • Trailor
  • No effort needed/ straight to the point
  • More information on cast/crews and film

2.Which experience do you prefer? Movie!

I would prefer the movie website as it is more appealing to our eyes, ears and mind. It is an ‘excuse’ to meet someone/ get out of the house and I personally felt that the movie actually conveys the story much better compared to website and script. Morever, who can resist the comfort in the theatre with your favourite company and popcorns!

5. What does interactive means?

Interactive means the acting or capability of acting on each other, communication between 2 or more people.

6.What is the purpose of each medium?

Script

  • Filming purposes
  • More convenient for cast and crews

Movie

  • Tells you a story through an appealing way
  • movie lovers
  • leisure purposes

  • Updates
  • Promote the movie
  • Showcase their cast
  • Highlights of the movie!
